Mrs. Kathy Joyce Hyder Roberts, age 71 of Sparta, passed away Saturday morning November 1, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Kathy was born November 7, 1953 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late John D. and Katherine Marie Davis Hyder. She was a registered dental assistant with a 20-year career with Walling Dentistry. She then proudly worked for 15 years for the State of Tennessee Health Department serving school-aged children in the Upper Cumberland. Kathy was an active member of Ole Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and helped lead Children's Church. She was an avid crafter and collector, never one to miss out on a deal at a yard sale. Kathy will be fondly remembered as a momma to many, and Granny to her family in addition to her church family and friends. She always had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her beloved dog Peaches

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother Tommy Hyder.

Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her husband of nearly 50 years, Steve Roberts

Two sons: Cody Roberts and wife Jennifer, Josh Roberts and wife Ashley

Four grandchildren: Lillie Mae Roberts, Chet Roberts, Katherine Belle Roberts and Silas Joe Roberts

Extended family members: Jeremy, Erica and Elizabeth Youngblood

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Ole Bethel Baptist Church with burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00pm Tuesday at the church. Jeff Randolph, Greg Wilson and Everett Wilson will officiate.

Jayson McDonald, Mike Judd, Peyton Roberts, Zachary Robertson, Chet Roberts and Jeremy Wilson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Silas Roberts and Johnny Kirby
