Mrs. Edna Lois Poston Kirby, better known as Lois or more affectionately as Nanny, age 92 of Crossville, passed away at 10:30 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Cumberland Medical Center.

Lois was born September 19, 1933 in Livingston, Tennessee to the late George Dewey and Sarah Emmaline Flatt Poston. She was a proud homemaker in every sense of the word. She loved cooking, gardening but most of all she loved taking care of the babies in the family. She was not only Nanny to her family but to all the friends of the family as well.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frederick Kirby, Sr.; daughter Glenda Faye Kirby Stinnett Johnson; son Charles Frederick Kirby, Jr.; grandson Daniel Lynn Kirby; siblings, Isaac Fred Poston, Shirley Faye Poston Simpson, Thomas Henry Poston, Effie Lucille Poston Goines, Carlos Lee Poston, Dimple Elease Poston Adcock and  Anna Christine Poston Kirby.

Surviving family members include her daughter Shirley Kirby Slatten

Grandchildren: Lanny Stinnett, James Stinnett, Adam Stinnett, Chris Slatten, Nick Slatten, Sarah Cannon, Jesse Kirby and Zach Richardson

Sister: Linda Sue Poston Graham

Brother: Billy Lester Poston

A host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, July 26, 2026 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Plainview Cemetery on Hwy 84. The family will receive friends after 12:00pm Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home. Doug Goff will officiate.

Lanny Stinnett, James Stinnett, Adam Stinnett, Chris Slatten, Nick Slatten and Jesse Kirby will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Darryl Johnson, Logan Stinnett and Devin Stinnett
