Mr. Lon Morgan Lowery, age 91 of Chapin, SC, a native of White County, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 at his residence.
Lon was born August 1, 1932 in Walling, TN, to the late Edna Knowles Lowery and Henry Lowery. After graduating from White County High School, Lon attended Draughon's Business College in Nashville and enlisted in the US Army Reserves before being called to active duty in 1952. After his military service, he resumed his career with Royal Typewriter as a commercial salesman, working in Nashville, Indianapolis, and Washington, D.C., until his transfer to Columbia, SC, where he was promoted to Regional Manager of southeastern US. He and June also owned an office supply store in Columbia, SC. During his retirement years, he drove a bus for Greyhound and Southeastern Stages.
In addition to his parents, Lon is preceded in death by his wife June Ganzert Lowery who died April 11, 2024; daughter Sherry Lowery Stone; brothers W.H. Lowery (Dale), Hugh G. Lowery (Jean) and George T. Lowery (Mildred); sister Pauline Lowery Rowland (Jeral).

Lon's family extends special thanks to Empyrean Hospice and to the Empathetic Essence Homecare team, Demetria Clark, Patricia White, Sonya Holloway, Iteasia Burkett, Lynn Burkett, Albreezia Dickerson, and Shamonique Favor, for their diligent and compassionate care and to SC neighbors Virginia Gibson, Gail Schreck, and Margaret Epting for their kindness and generosity.
Funeral services will be conducted 1pm Friday, June 21, 2024 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11am Friday at Hunter Funeral Home. Billy Lowery will officiate the service.
