Ms. Mary Dorothy Officer, age 78 of Sparta, passed away at 8:51am Saturday, September 11, 2021 at her residence.

Ms. Officer was born August 20, 1943 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Beecher Howard Officer, Sr. and Dorothy Sally Gardenhire Officer. She was retired from Thomas Industries and a member of Kynett United Methodist Church. She loved to go to yard sales, though her favorite time was spent taking care of her family. Many children in addition to her own called her Granny, and her house was always the fun house to visit. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother Beecher Officer, Jr. and his wife Carri; sisters Betty Strode and Laura Webb; niece Monica Oglesby ("Shackey"); great nephew Joshua Webb; and sister-in-law Ethyleen Officer.

Granddaughter: Kyra Mackenzie Wright

Great Grandson: Jeremiah Bailey

Brother: William Vince Officer

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, September 16, 2021 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until service time Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home. Pastor Diantha McLeod will officiate.
