Mr. Michael Lee Adkison, age 70 of Sparta of Sparta, passed away at 5:09pm Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family.

Michael was born July 24, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest of 13 children born, to the late Carol Lee and Maggie Della "Peggy" Denton Adkison. He owned a courier service that served businesses between their locations and he had a daily route of 356 miles. He was an avid bowler and was involved with multiple leagues in multiple towns. Michael enjoyed listening and dancing to oldies music. Above all else, his favorite time was spent being Papa to his family and cooking for his large family gatherings.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two brothers Bryan Lance Adkison and Brady Landry Adkison; maternal grandparents Barlow and Flossie Denton; parternal grandparents Virgil and Mary Adkison; granddaughter Haleigh Rose Bennett.

Michael is survived by his wife of 52 years Doris Adkison

Children: Mary Knowles, Robert Adkison, Paul (Star) Adkison, Michelle (Michael) Bennett, Angela Adkison

Grandchildren: Austin (Samantha) Sheppard, Shannie Adkison, Jonathan Adkison, Jay Adkison, Hunter (Cheyenne) Dodson, Jon-Fisher (Victoria) Dodson, Sara Dill, Cassidy Dill, Rhys Bennett

Great-granddaughters: Riley Sheppard, Delilah Dodson and one on the way

Brothers: Terry (Patricia), Joe (Kathy), Keith (Debbie), Mark (Diane), Adam, Doug, Rodney (Sharon)

Sisters: Kathie Curtis, Carolyn and Annette

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Monday, December 26, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Monday at Hunter Funeral Home. Brent Tevebaugh will officiate.

Robert Adkison, Paul Adkison, Michael Bennett, Austin Sheppard, Jason Gunnels and Dennis Brown will serve the family as pallbearers.
