Mrs. Nell Wilhite Moore, age 103 of Sparta, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 at NHC of Sparta, 11 days before her 104th birthday.

Mrs. Moore was born September 3, 1922 in White County to the late Chester Burl and Anna Lee Howell Wilhite. She was their first of nine children. Mrs. Moore worked as a cook at White County High School but then went on to have a rewarding career babysitting children. She was a longtime member of Hamptons Crossroads Baptist Church and attended as long as her health made it possible.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Robert Taylor “Bob T” Moore; three children Brenda Faye, Alan Wayne, Harold Lloyd; two brothers and four sisters.

Surviving family members include her son Bobby Ray (Carolyn Mackie) Moore

Daughter in law: Pat Williams Moore

Five grandchildren: Randy (Greta) Moore, Vanessa Sparks, Karen (Steve) Reed, Justin (Casey) Moore and Kyle Moore

Seven great grandchildren

Six great great grandchildren

Sister: Trena (Bailey) Little of Shelbyville, TN

Brother: Ralph Wilhite of Sparta

A host of nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Hamptons Crossroads Baptist Church with burial in Howard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm Monday at the church.
