Obituary

Ola Ann Ross Tubb Jones, age 91, passed away on February 1, 2023, at LifeCare of Sparta, TN. Ola was born on November 29, 1931, in Tompkinsville, KY to Joe and Annie Ross.

After graduating from Tompkinsville High School, she attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, TN. Billye Joyce Howell of Sparta became her best friend, and later married Ola's brother, Jeff Ross. At Lipscomb she became class secretary, class beauty, cheerleader, and homecoming queen. Years later she was named Woman of the Decade.

After college she became a railroad stewardess stationed in St Louis, MO.

In 1957 she met and married JR (Jimmie) Tubb III and moved to Sparta TN. She instantly became the mother of 3 boys who had lost their mother to cancer a few years earlier – Stanton, Les, and James. Later she gave birth to a daughter, Jo Anna. Ola was an active member of the Church of Christ wherever she lived. She had a passion for children, Cub Scouts, PTA, cooking, sports, painting, playing bridge, and vacationing with family at places like Center Hill Lake and Barren River State Park. But life took a turn with her husband's untimely death in 1974.

In 1980 she married Sam Jones, also a widower, and moved to Lebanon TN. Over the next 40 years she fell in love with a host of new children, grandchildren, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brothers: Joe and Jeff Ross; sister: Martha Bailey; son: Stanton; granddaughter: Leighann Tubb; and grandson: Joseph Tubb.

She is survived by her children: Les (Becky) Tubb, James (Kathleen) Tubb, and Jo Anna Tubb Pesson; her grandchildren: Lesley Richardson, Eric (Evangeline) Tubb, Daniel (Romina) Tubb, Louis Pesson, James Pesson, Rebekah Pesson; her great-grandchildren: Shea Richardson, Ashton Jethro and Parker Rose Tubb, Luca Alexander Tubb; several nieces and nephews.
