Mrs. Peggy Kathyleen Bain Hensley, age 75 of Sparta, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.

Peggy was born March 7, 1950 in Smithville, Tennessee. She was a homemaker in ever sense of the word from working in her garden to making quilts for her family. She also loved to take care of her animals, Tippy, Penelope and Bear. She enjoyed reading, fishing and watching her favorite show on television. Peggy was proud of the mechanic work she did in her earlier years but she was most proud of being Nanny for her family.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Thomas Edward "Tommy" Hensley who died March 11, 2019; father J.E. Bain; mother Joyce Atnip Ratliff; grandsons Keilin Thomas Hensley and Carson Neil Hensley and a host of siblings.

Survivors include

Sons: Marty Hensley and  Edward (Farrah) Hensley all of Sparta

Special son: Anthony (T.O.) Officer of Sparta

Grandchildren: Johnna (Bobby) Wright, Jenna Hensley and Kyle Johnson, CJ Hensley and Lauren Davis , Peyton Hensley and L.J. McDonnough, Haley (Shawn) Watson, Elijah Hensley, Rami Hensley and Charlie Hensley

Eight great-grandchildren

Siblings: Larry, David, Melinda and Johnnie Bain

Many nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00pm Monday at Hunter Funeral Home. Johnny Hood will officiate.

CJ Hensley, Shawn Watson, Bobby Wright, Elijah Hensley, Randy Jones, Jimmy Savage, Derek LaFever and Charles Rutherford will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Bain and Ed Gentry.
