Mr. Philip Derrell Watson, affectionately known as Phil, passed away at 5:29pm Monday, March 13, 2023 at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.

Phil was born July 30, 1960 in Nashville, Tennessee to Johnnie Mai Hancock Watson and the late Vern Wright Watson. He was an I.T. Tech since the late 1980s, currently working for Dell computer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was an avid fisherman. He and his buddy, Bart, used to go fishing every Saturday morning for years, sometimes bringing home a big fish or just a really good fishing story. Phil loved God, family, work, helping people and cats. Together with his wife Linda, he raised several cats over their years together including his current fur baby, Munchie.

In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his father-in-law Jasper Ronald Savage.

Niece: Brittany (Jeremiah) Anderson and her family Britt, J.J., Dawson and Vannah

Niece: Elizabeth Merritt and her family Leon and Kye

Several cousins and extended family also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Saturday, March 18, 2023 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Doyle Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 10:00am Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home. Elbert Smith will officiate.

Max Mackeny, Jeremiah Anderson, Mark Wright, Danny Hancock, Britt Mason, Bart Trent and Jonathan Savage will serve the family as pallbearers.
