Mr. Charles Ray Anderson, better known as Ray to friends and family, age 77 of White County, passed away 8:52am, Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Ray was born September 10,1943 in Jackson County to the late Fletcher George and Amanda Dimple Swallows Anderson. A retired mail carrier of 26 years, Ray mostly served Sparta Route 5. In addition to being a lifelong farmer, Ray was also a 26-year veteran of the National Guard after serving in the United States Army. He was an active member of the community, participating in the American Legion, working for the White County Election Commission, and serving as secretary and treasurer of Saylors Cemetery for 30 years. He was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served many years as church clerk and played the piano.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brothers Roy H. Anderson and James Ralph Anderson.

Survivors include his wife of 55 ½ years Ruth Gribble Anderson

Sons: Johnathan Gribble Anderson, Samuel Tim Oliver Anderson & wife Christy, Tony Maggert and wife Lydia

Grandchildren: Jodi Anderson, Jami Anderson Garrett, Jaci Kate Anderson, Josi Anna Anderson, Mason Myers and Adalyn Myers

Brothers: Raymond David Anderson and Howard Anderson

Private graveside services were held at 9:00am on Friday, August 13, 2021at the Gribble Anderson Farm. Joe Hallums, Jeff Turner and Derrick Coble officiated.

Tony Maggert, Donnie Young, Joe Hallums, George Soltis, Raymond Anderson, Howard Anderson, Jack Langford, Ron Taylor, Kathy Saylors and Richard Mason served the family as pallbearers.
