Mrs. Rita Jo Cook Reed, age 64 of Sparta passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at her residence.

Rita was born October 25, 1958 in McKenzie, TN to the late Decatur and Annie Bell Darnall Cook. She was a musician. Her gospel music could be heard from radio stations around the south to gospel singings, revivals and even concerts in their yard during the pandemic. The only thing she loved more than singing was being Gram to her beloved grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her step-daughter Kathy Osborn; great-grandchild Taylen Skidmore and brother Wendell Cook.

Survivors include her husband of 11 years Burt Reed

Two daughters: Tara (Will) Harris and Kelly Jackson

Step-daughters: Christina (Chris) Collins and Amanda Skidmore

Grandchildren: Carley and Makenzie Harris, Naly, Nolan and Holden Heady, Devon Amole, Chase and Nathan Edman, Robert, Christian and Faith Skidmore, Samantha, Emily and Parker Osborn

Great-grandchildren: Dawson, Christopher, Cambre, Eli, Aria, Ava, Evan, Juno and Rylan

Siblings: Karon Acklen, Sharon Clark, Decatur "D.D" Cook and Randell Cook

Several nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00pm Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 10:00am Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Nathan Hawkins will officiate.

Devon Amore, Chase Edman, Will Harris, Robert Skidmore, Decatur "D.D" Cook and Randell Cook will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the Reed family suggests memorials be made to Hunter Funeral Home, PO Box 90, Sparta, TN 38583 to help the family with funeral expenses.
