Mr. Roger Howard Smith, age 76 of Sparta, passed away Friday evening December 2, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Roger was born June 19, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Herbert Lee and Onna Mae Howard Smith. He was a retired garment factory worker. Roger was an antique car enthusiast and a proud owner of a 1983 Jeep and his pride and joy a 1933 A Model Coupe which he took to many car shows around the southeast. When he went to the shows every weekend, he drove the car, there was no trailering it. Roger was also a gun and knife collector as well as a pool player. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his step-daughter Tammy "Pistol" Wilhite.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years Jewell Smith

Daughter: Tammy (Mark) Howard of Sparta

Son: Scottie (Susan) Smith of Sparta

Grandson: Aaron Howard and Kaitlin Bennett

Granddaughters: Katelyn Howard and Harlee (Trevor) Bray

Great-granddaughter: Raleigh Mae Howard

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Saylors Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Tuesday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Serving the family as pallbearers are Stephen Gribble, Jonathan Anderson, Tim Anderson, Royce Anderson, Billy Anderson and Clay Dunn. Honorary pallbearers are Thurman Price, Bobby Allison and Raymond Baker
