Mrs. Sandra Sheridan Thacker, age 81 of Sparta, passed away May 9, 2022 in the Emergency Room of St. Thomas Highlands Hospital.
Sandra was born September 4, 1940 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Floyd Hunter and Louise Olsen Sheridan. She was a retired administrative assistant, serving in that role for a few different businesses. She was a longtime member of Doyle Methodist Church. In her younger years, Sandra enjoyed embroidery and traveling abroad. In her later years, her favorite traveling was to support her active grandchildren in sports and their various activities. Her weekly trips to the beauty salon were always a source of joy, as she got her nails and hair done while catching up on news in the community. However, Sandra's favorite role in life was being a loving and caring Grandma to her family. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Wallace Phillip Thacker, who died April 5, 2016.
Survivors include her children: Christy Morton of Charlotte, N.C., Chris Thacker and wife Jenny of Cookeville, Phil Thacker of Memphis, Kathy Thacker of Gulf Shores, AL
Grandchildren: Drew Thacker and Drake Thacker, Shey McNeil, Ashton McNeil, Alex Thacker, Brendan Thacker,
Brother in law: Wilburn Thacker and wife Pat of Hendersonville, TN
Sister-in-law: Ann Thacker
The Thacker family has entrusted Hunter Funeral Home with Sandra's cremation and a memorial service will be conducted 3:00pm Saturday, May 14, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-3:00pm Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home. John Murphy will officiate. Sandra and her late husband Wallace will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. at a later date.
