Sarah Frances Hopp, 91, of Bumpass, Virginia, formerly of Sparta, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Sarah Frances Floyd was born Sept. 11, 1930 to Carrie Agnes and James Floyd in Sparta, TN. She was raised there and graduated from White County High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Wilbur Saylors and lived in Sparta where son, Donald Kevin was born. Two years later, Kimberly Ann was born in Ft. Knox, KY. The family later moved to Springfield, VA where Don worked for the IRS. After his death in 1969, she began her 22 year banking career as a bookkeeper at Bank of Virginia. Her success continued with promotions to Asst. Mgr., Branch Mgr. before retiring as Signet Bank Vice president. Through her hard work and sacrifices, she proudly sent Kevin and Kim to college. In 1979, she married her neighbor, Leigh Patrick Hopp and gained a new family. After Leigh's 30 year military career as Army CW4 US Army CID, they retired to Lake Anna, VA where they made many friends.
Survivors include son, Kevin Saylors (Laura), of Belton, TX; daughter, Kim Maupin (Rob) of Blue Ridge, VA; Pam Perez (Mark) of Annandale, VA; Patty Creel (Albert) of Manassas, VA; John Hopp of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren Carrie Lanning (Bob), Chris Maupin (Becky), Sara Maupin, Michelle Rizzo (Maxime), Matthew Perez (Katie Pelland), Andrew Creel, Jesse Creel, Kylie Greybill (Tom), Hill AFB UT and John Hopp Jr.; great-grandchildren Caleb, Samuel and Finley Maupin, Elena Rizzo, Trevor Lanning, and AnnaLise White, Winston and Penny Greybill;
brother retired LTC Johnny Floyd, Aiken, S.C.; nephews Dr. David Floyd (Laurie),North Augusta, GA and John Harvey Floyd (Trang), Honolulu, HI.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Friday, March 18, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 9:00am Friday at Hunter Funeral Home. Jeff Turner will officiate.
