Scott Douglas Griffin

Mr. Scott Douglas Griffin, age 59 of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 7, 2026 at his residence.

Scott was born December 23, 1966 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Curtis Hill and Nina Mae Cope Griffin. Scott was a member of WCHS’s Class of ’85. He took great pride in his yard and enjoyed cutting his grass. He was an avid NASCAR fan especially when the black #3 of Dale Earnhardt was leading the way and the #8 of Dale, Jr. not too far behind. Scott will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his love for music.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cason and Louetta Griffin and maternal grandparents, Erman and Essie Cope.

Surviving family members include his son Lee Griffin and wife Bashi

Grandson: Oliver Griffin

Sister: Sherry Griffin Watts

Niece: Jennifer Parrott and husband Josh

Two aunts: Ruth Anderson and Brenda Frasier

A host of cousins and friend also survive

A private graveside service was conducted on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Old Zion Cemetery.
