Obituary

Ms. Shirley Ann Sparks Usrey, age 67 of the Board Valley Community, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center from complications with Covid-19.

Shirley was born January 25, 1954 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late John and Vernell Miller Sparks. She was a 1972 graduate of White County High School and started her work career the next day at Red Kap. She was a longtime employee of THK Rhythm in Sparta. She enjoyed her work, but the beach was always her favorite escape. She liked traveling to Gatlinburg, but she loved to go to the beach in Panama City Beach, Florida. Shirley enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. However, the time she spent with her family and grandchildren was what mattered most. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by brothers John Lee Sparks, Charles Sparks; sisters Charlene Margeson and Dollie Law.

Survivors include her son Roger Usrey

Two daughters: Lisa Usrey and Rhonda Usrey

Three grandchildren: Christinann Hill, Chanelle Usrey and Preston Cummings

Longtime companion: Eddie Scarbrough

Nieces: Karen Sparks and Jessica Cantrell

Nephews: John Margeson and Chris Sparks

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Thursday, May 13, 2021 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Lower Board Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Ray Young will officiate.

Tommy Farr, Rainn Martin, Austin Harris, John Margeson, George Marshall, and Lynn Benson will serve the family as pallbearers
