Mr. Steve Floyd, age 66 of Sparta, passed away at 8:34am on Wednesday morning, June 23, 2021 at his residence.

Steve was born October 5, 1954 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Silas Edgar and Stella Denton Floyd. He was a 1973 graduate of White County High School. In the early 1980s, Steve developed an interest in flying and obtained his Pilot's license. He enjoyed farming, golf, and teasing his nieces and nephews. Most of all, he loved being with family and his long time friends, many of whom have been friends for 60 years. He was a former manager of Coachman Men's Store. Most notably, he has helped operate the family grocery business, Floyd's Cash Saver, for the last 40 years. The impact of Steve and his family on the countless teenagers they have employed in their 40 years of service is evident in a note from a former employee to the family, " I want to say that I look up to both of you. Both of you are strong people with hearts of gold. You both have influenced so many young minds throughout your business. People who went on to serve our country, practice law, become teachers, preachers and so many other things. It inspired me to pursue my career in retail management."

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother Thomas Walter Floyd and a niece, Lindsay Elizabeth Floyd.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years Deborah Ray Peek Floyd, who he married on April 28, 1974

Sister-in-law: Jimmie Carol Hyman and husband Vince

Brothers-in-law: Bobby Peek and wife Donna, Tommy Peek and wife Beth

Nieces: Angie Alley and husband Terry, Rebecca Reeves and husband Derek, Jennifer Peek, Caroline Peek and Sarah Kate Peek

Nephews: Greg Floyd and wife Ashley, Shaun Floyd and wife Rachel, Nicholas Floyd, Doug Clark and Stephen Ray Clark

Great-nieces: Anna Hope Reeves and Halle Floyd

Great-nephews: Samuel Hillis, Aaron Hillis, Braden Foster Reeves, Blane Floyd and Jax Floyd

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Saturday, June 26, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Sparta with burial in Copeland's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8:00pm and Saturday after 9:00am at the church. Brad Walker will officiate.

Greg Floyd, Shaun Floyd, Nick Floyd, Derek Reeves, Stephen Clark, Joe Atkinson and Gary George will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are David Farley, Terry Alley and Stanley Pittman
