Sue
Hubbard
May 17, 1940 — Jan 20, 2026
Sparta
Suzanne Hubbard, 85, of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on January 20, 2026. Sue lived a life defined by love, charity, and a deep commitment to family.
Born on May 17, 1940 in Green Bay, WI, Sue was the daughter of Edward and Ursula Meyer. She grew up in Green Bay with her six siblings and graduated from Dominican University in Illinois, leading to her first job in Chicago where she met and married Alan Hubbard in November 1965.
Sue spent her life thereafter devoted to her family, friends, faith, and community. She was a talented seamstress and member of a quilting guild, finding joy in the craft through which she conveyed both creativity and care. She was known especially for her generosity, frequently gifting her quilts as an expression of deep fondness, or love. Her faith in God was a guiding light throughout life, shaping her thoughts and actions. Those who knew Sue will remember her power of human connection, easily turning strangers to friends, as well as the relentless positivity with which she navigated life. Sue will be forever remembered for her joyful smile, warm hugs, and the many lives she touched with her kindness.
Sue is survived by her husband, Alan; their three daughters, Annemarie (Nick Brighton) Hubbard, Sarah (Steve) Crower and granddaughter Peyton, and Julia (Chris) Beck and grandsons Owen and Connor; brother John Meyer, sisters Ursula Thomasma, Mary Coover, Catherine Tracy, and Theresa Kobek, and other beloved family members and friends. She will be reunited in Heaven with those who preceded her, including her daughter Cathy and brother Edward Meyer.
Prayers for Sue will be held during Communions of the Faithful, open to all, held Wednesday at 5PM and Thursdays at 9:30AM at St. Andrew's church in Sparta. Funeral Mass, tentatively in the spring will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or charity of one's choice in honor of Sue.
