Susie Sparkman Masters

It is with love and remembrance that we announce the passing of Susan “Susie” Masters, who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the age of 73.Susie was born in Sparta, Tennessee, to William Balas Sparkman and Ida Beatrice Sparkman. After graduating from high school, she began her career at Mallory’s, where she proudly worked for 35 years. During that time, she made many lasting friendships, including a special group of friends who affectionately called themselves “The Golden Girls.”Susie’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to her two sons and a grandmother to her grandchildren. Her family was her greatest love, and she cherished the time she spent with them.When she wasn’t with her boys or grandchildren, Susie enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, and spending time with her friends. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, the friendships she treasured, and the memories she created with those around her.Susie was preceded in death by her loving parents; her son, Steven Masters; her brother, Jimmy Sparkman; and her special friend and fellow “Golden Girl,” Wilma Jones.She leaves behind her son, Dennis (Kim) Masters; grandchildren, Stephen Masters, Cameron Masters, and step-grandson Gabe Turner; sister, Connie Jolley; nieces, Teressa Baker and Stacy Jolley Goines; nephew, James “JBo” Sparkman; daughter-in-law, Angela Masters; and several loving cousins.Susie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00am Monday, September 21, 2026 at Greenwood Cemetery. In honor of Susie's wishes there will be no public visitation prior to the service.
