Ms. Versa Mae Phillips Howard Branconnier, age 93 of Walling, passed away Sunday morning July 20, 2025 at Signature of Putnam in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Versa was born September 16, 1931 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Homer and Ollie Smith Phillips. She proudly served as a LPN until the age of 86. Her travels took all over the United States including multiple trips to Hawaii and Canada. She enjoyed dancing to classic country music and horseback riding.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Henry Horton Howard; granddaughter Veronica Howard; sisters Thelma Durham, Christine Hatcher; brothers Artee, Richard, Paul Gene and Jim Phillips.

Survivors include her son Duane (Lavanda) Howard

Daughter: Angela (Ron) Ruback

Grandchildren: Dreama Howard, Troy Howard, Thomas Nash, Olivia Nash, Blayne Sems, Brandon Ruback, Tyler Ruback

Great-grandchildren: Hannah (Chris) Morton, Channing Nash, Blaize Darity-Reese

Two sisters: Mary Ann Dodson and Irene Parker

Several nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Thursday, July 24, 2025 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with funeral honors by the Nurses Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery in the Cassville community. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00pm Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Gerhart will officiate.

Troy Howard, Chris Morton, Ron Ruback, Thomas Nash, Jamey Spakes and Paul Elrod will serve as pallbearers.
