Mr. Willie Levon Snyder, affectionately known as Pappy, age 87 of Sparta, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Pappy was born on October 31, 1936 in Dunlap, Tennessee to the late Andrew and Lucy Southerland Snyder. He was a Church of God Minister and Evangelist for over 50 years. His ministry was spread all over the state of Tennessee and for a brief time in Texas. He loved the ministry and that was evident in his love of God and he yearly reading of the Bible from start to finish.He loved his famliy and he loved God. He served the citizens of White County as a deputy where he garnered the name Pappy and also as a school bus driver. His favorite sport was bass fishing with his brother-in-law Gene and he was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter Jannice Garrison; sister Ima Jean Graham; brothers Henry Calvin Snyder and Roger Snyder.

Willie is survived by his loving wife, Dean Snyder of Sparta

Two sons: David Snyder and wife Brenda of Knoxville, TN and Terry Snyder of Cookeville, TN

Step-sons: Rickey Patterson and wife Terri, Jeff Patterson

Grandchildren: Becca (Josh) Ferguson, Kristin "Krissy" (John) Bevil, Jake Snyder, Tyler Patterson, Hunter Patterson, Collin Patterson

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Monday, December 4, 2023 at North Sparta Church of God with burial in Perkins Cemetery in Putnam County. The family will receive friends from 3-8:00pm Sunday and after 10:00am Monday at the church. Steve Gerhart, Jimmy Talley and Clifford Waters will officiate.

Tim Geer, Josh Ferguson, Clifford Waters, Andy Smith, Chris Moore and Robin Phillips will serve the family as pallbearers.
